Life Science Commercial Accelerator
In 2019, held at The Biosphere, Newcastle Helix, BioCity will deliver a series of events, including its prestigious Accelerator Programme, that will help healthcare and life science entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses. The events are organised into 3 themes:

Building Skills
What? A series of workshops covering topics from understanding customers and competitors, to better business design and fund raising.
Who? Business leaders and management teams of existing companies of any size that are looking to develop their entrepreneurial skills and grow their companies.
Why? Develop key skills and knowledge to help improve success and long-term sustainability of your business.

Building Connectivity
What? A series of networking events and initiatives to connect existing life science and healthcare businesses in Newcastle to one another, to the main institutions, to investment funds and to a wider audience of other companies and sector focused experts from the BioCity Expert Network.
Who? Business leaders and management teams of existing companies of any size looking to expand their network and get key connections within in the industry.
Why? Because it’s not just what you know… businesses thrive in well-connected sector focused communities.

Commercialisation
Introductory Workshops
What is it? Three key workshops that explore how to test, plan and implement the commercialisation of new ideas and technologies. Who is it for? Anyone interested in commercialising ideas and technologies in life sciences and healthcare. Why? Creating a successful business from an exciting idea or technology isn’t easy but adopting certain approaches can maximise your chances of success.
Accelerator Programme
What is it? A highly selective 12-week programme that will robustly challenge the commercial viability of your business, delivered through a 1 day a week programme. Who is it for? Individuals and/or teams with definite plans for launching a new business. Why? Learn how to identify gaps in your business, evaluate risks and create a business model that stands-up to the scrutiny of potential investors, partners and customers.
Commercialisation Events
Taster sessions will be held on Wednesday 6, 13 and 20 March from 10am - 4pm. The BioCity Accelerator Programme will begin with the Pre-Accelerator Workshop on Tuesday 23 - Thursday 25 April. Successful opportunities will then progress onto the programme, which will run from Wednesday 29 May - Wednesday 26 June with final presentations being held on Wednesday 17 July.
