Newcastle Science Central presents plans for the future
The prestigious development is opening its doors to the residents, businesses and neighbours of the site, who are invited to join them at The Core on Wednesday 23 March between 12noon – 2pm or 6pm – 8pm. Attendees will be able to explore what’s happening already on site, and get a first look at the masterplan, including future developments.
Cllr Nick Forbes, Leader of Newcastle City Council said: “Developments on Newcastle Science Central are progressing apace with the landmark building The Core almost full to capacity, Newcastle University’s first research labs now on site in The Key, and construction of the Urban Sciences Building well underway.
“The partners invite the public to join us to find out about these exciting developments, hear about our plans for the future, and become part of the Science Central community.”
Proposals for the site include a Learning and Teaching Centre, the Newcastle Laboratory, a Low Carbon Energy Centre, and options are currently being explored on others plots for business and residential use.
Architects, FaulknerBrown, will be presenting the Science Central Masterplan and vision for the site, and visuals will be on display on how different areas may look upon completion. They will be joined by Ryder Architecture who will showcase outline plans for the Newcastle Laboratory, as well as representatives from contractors of the Urban Sciences Building, Bowmer and Kirkland.
Partner representatives from Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council will be on hand to provide information about the upcoming buildings, and the industry leading, world-class research that is and will be taking place on site.
The public will also have an exclusive opportunity to see inside the newest building on site, The Key, as well as a tour of The Core and wider site.
