Newcastle Helix is home to organisations shaping the future of industries across the UK, and we recently caught up with Russell Sloan, newly appointed CEO at Scott Logic, to hear about his vision for the business, the opportunities ahead and the trends shaping the technology sector.
Having spent more than 25 years at Kainos, Russell brings extensive experience in scaling organisations, delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes and building high-performing teams.
So what attracted him to Scott Logic?
For Russell, it was the opportunity to join an organisation with an established reputation for engineering excellence, ambitious growth plans and a strong track record of delivering impactful work across both financial services and the public sector.
Looking ahead, he believes successful technology businesses will be defined by their ability to remain adaptable, understand evolving customer needs and embrace emerging technologies responsibly. Artificial intelligence will undoubtedly play a major role in the future of the sector, but Russell emphasised that technology alone is not enough. Curiosity, problem-solving and a strong customer mindset remain essential skills for future talent.
He also highlighted the value of innovation communities such as Newcastle Helix, where collaboration, knowledge sharing and connections between organisations create opportunities to nurture talent and support the next generation entering an increasingly AI-enabled world.
As an active contributor to initiatives such as BUILDING BLOCKS, Scott Logic continues to demonstrate the role businesses can play in supporting skills development and strengthening the wider innovation ecosystem.
We look forward to seeing what comes next under Russell's leadership.
