We all understand the importance of taking care of our health and wellbeing. Yet, when work piles up and deadlines loom, the habits that support our physical, mental, and emotional health often fall by the wayside. The Helix Wellbeing Programme was created to change that. It offers more than just fitness classes—it provides a way to make wellbeing a natural part of your workday.

Making Wellbeing Accessible During the Workday

The biggest challenge is not knowing what to do for our health, but finding the time to do it. The Helix Wellbeing Programme fits into your busy schedule by offering 30-minute lunchtime sessions. These sessions give you a chance to step away from your desk, move your body, and reset your mind. You can return to work feeling more energised, focused, and refreshed.

This approach is based on research showing that movement, social connection, and stress management improve not only wellbeing but also how we think and perform at work. Taking time to refuel is not time lost; it is an investment in your productivity and overall health.

Sessions Designed for Everyone

The programme includes a variety of classes suitable for all fitness levels and experience:

  • Yoga (Hatha style flow): Focuses on gentle stretching and breathing to improve flexibility and calm the mind.

  • Pilates (Strength, stretch & balance): Builds core strength and enhances posture through controlled movements.

  • Strong Nation: Combines dance with martial arts moves for a fun, high-energy workout.

  • Breathwork: Teaches techniques to reset your nervous system and manage stress effectively.

You don’t need prior experience or a specific fitness level to join. All you need is a willingness to dedicate half an hour to yourself.

Expert Guidance and Practical Techniques

Each class is led by accredited, experienced local wellbeing practitioners. They bring a wealth of knowledge and practical advice to help you build habits that support your nervous system and manage stress. These skills benefit not only your workday but also your life outside of work.

Building Connections Across the Helix Community

The Helix Wellbeing Programme is about more than individual health. It encourages connection among colleagues and the wider Helix community. Sharing these moments of movement and mindfulness helps foster a supportive environment where wellbeing is a shared priority.

How it all began

The idea for the Helix Wellbeing Programme came from Christina Lord, an entrepreneur based at the NatWest Accelerator Hub, in The Lumen Building. Christina is an Energy Leadership Coach specialising in resilience and burnout prevention.

Having spent time working alongside fellow entrepreneurs and professionals on site, Christina noticed there wasn't an easy way for people to access wellbeing sessions during the working day—even though so many people spoke about wanting to move more, manage stress better and create healthier routines.

After approaching the Helix team with the idea of bringing accessible lunchtime wellbeing sessions onto the site, together they launched this six-month pilot programme. The aim: make it easier for people to invest in their wellbeing, strengthen connections across the Helix community and support the fantastic local wellbeing practitioners who make these sessions possible.

This is a collaborative trial, and we'd love your feedback. If there's a session you'd like to see, ideas you'd like to share or something that would help you make wellbeing part of your working week, we'd love to hear from you.

We hope you'll come along, give a session a try and discover what a difference 30 minutes can make.
